The national press has not ceased recently to report on the humanitarian actions of the Tariqa Karkariya at the national and African level. However, this Sufi path surprises us once again by the extent of its spiritual and humanitarian influence that has reached the borders of the Philippines. Yes you read correctly, the Philippines. The same country with which Morocco has exemplary bilateral relations.

Indeed, the Tariqa Karkariya, which has reached an international dimension in a few years under the leadership of its spiritual master, the Shaykh Sidi Mohamed Faouzi Al Karkari, has initiated two charitable and humanitarian actions in two different regions of the Philippines. Thus, despite the conditions of confinement due to Covid-19, bags of food supplies were distributed to the benefit of the inhabitants of two villages. The first action was carried out at the mosque of the village of Kalawag near the city of Isulan. As for the second, it benefited the inhabitants of Kakal, a very marginalized village almost cut off from the world.

The actions carried out by this Moroccan Sufi way demonstrate a remarkable reactivity among its followers to the needs of the needy. This is no stranger to the spiritual teaching they receive in the Tariqa Karkariya, whose foundations were laid by Sheikh Mohamed Faouzi Alkarkary in accordance with the tradition of the Prophet peace be upon him. The teaching of this Moroccan Sufi path is based on several of the Sheikh’s wisdoms, one of the most famous of which is: “Lower your ego and ennoble your neighbour”.

Having said this, it must be said that these spiritual, social and humanitarian actions are carried out with ardor despite the difficult conditions that this Moroccan Tariqa is experiencing. These conditions and difficulties have been relayed by an open letter to the Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs, sent by Nasrallah Belkhayate, President of the Trophy of Africanity Foundation. In his plea, Mr. Nasrallah invited the ministry to recognize the status of Moroccan Zawiya to the Tariqa Karkariya which plays an important role in the spiritual influence of Morocco at the African and international level.
